Riccardo Battocchio focuses primarily on theology, an interest which began with an education that began in the diocese Seminary of Padova, proceeded at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana (Rome), and culminated with a doctoral degree with a dissertation on the relationship between church and state in Marsilio da Padova. From 2004 to 2019 he served as director of the Biblioteca Antica del Seminario Vescovile di Padova. He has served as a full time instructor of dogmatic theology in the Facoltà Teologica del Triveneto and in 2020 he has served as guest professor at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana. Since 2019 he has served as President of the Associazione Teologica Italiana and Rector of the Almo Collegio Capranica. He is an associate fellow of the Accademia Galileiana of Sciences, Letters, and Arts. He has also published articles on systemic theology and the history of theology.
