Pierre Laurens is a member of the Institut de France and a professor emeritus at the Sorbonne, where he held a position in Latin Literature of the Renaissance since 2000. He directs the series Classiques de l’Humanisme and Belles Lettres Essais published through Les Belles Lettres. His more notable publications include editions of Anthologia Graeca (books IX and X), Petrarch’s Africa and Letters, Ficino’s Commento al Simposio di Platone, and Leon Battista Alberti’s Apologi and Momus. Also noteworthy are his volumes Musae reduces (Brill 1975), L’abeille dans l’ambre (Belles Lettres, 1989, 20122), L’Anthologie de la poesie lyrique de la Renaissance (Gallimard 2004), La Dernière Muse latine (Belles Lettres 2008), L’âge de l’inscription (Belles Lettres 2010), Histoire critique de la littérature latine (Belles Lettres 2014). His next publication is a book titled Le sentiment de la langue. Voyage en pays latin (Belles Lettres 2021).
